I participated in my first Moda Blockheads last year - Blockheads #4. I loved it, I learnt a lot- mind you the blocks are finished yet the quilt is yet to be assembled!
Moda Fabrics implemented Blockheads in 2017, a program that offers a weekly quilt block created by their various designers. The purpose of the program is to inspire the quilting community but what I loved about it is you get to know each of the designers through the questions they are asked and the type of blocks they design.
Blockheads #5 has just commenced and there is a slight difference from the previous series. It is being broken into two phases, the first will run from September 6-November 15 and will give quilters the option to complete a smaller project on the lead up to Christmas with a total of 9 blocks. The settings for these 9 blocks will be provided in November with three options: a lap quilt, a pillow or bunting.
The second phase will commence in the new year and run through to July, where you could end up making a larger sampler quilt.
A 6" or 12" block option are provided with the weekly patterns - I'm opting for the 6" option so I can make bunting to display the blocks in the shop in time for Christmas.
I whipped up the first block this morning - I'm using Bonnie and Camille's Merry Little Christmas range. They do not take long to build - choosing the fabrics often takes longer!
